One week ago today.....

One week ago, we had just met Addison. It's hard to believe it's only been a week. It feels like a lifetime. Addison is just a part of our family, and I feel like I have known her forever. We are all so in love with this precious little girl, and I can't imagine not having her as part of our life. God is so good to have blessed us with this gift.
Today was a much better day. Thanks for so many prayers. Riley felt much better today, and was eating again by supper tonight. Addison has still run a little bit of a temperature, but she is much better than yesterday. Today was a major shopping day, and it was SO much fun!! After we got home, Russ said "Addison has been in our family for a week, and she already owns more shoes than I do"!! He is now outnumbered by the girls, so I guess he better get used to lots of shoes!
Yesterday, Alyssa and I did a little bit of sightseeing with our group. We visited a folk art museum and a tea house. I think we have done enough sightseeing, we didn't have too much fun! I"m posting a picture from the tea house. Tonight after shopping, we had dinner with our friends Amy, Geoff, and their new daughter Sarah. The picture I posted of them, they are holding "restroom admission" tickets. Yes, you needed an admission to get into the squatty potty! Too funny!
And Mia Maria, and Claire, I posted a picture for you both, I thought of you when I saw the sign!!
That's all for tonight. Tomorrow is our last day, and I will try to post one last time before we leave. It feels a little sad to be leaving China, but I know it will be good to get home and see so many of you that we are missing so much!

Love the sleeping picture with the stuffed animal. What a peanut. Would just love to hold her and love on her!

Praise the Lord for the improved health!!

The miracle of adoption is something so incredible that it can't even be put into words. It is too full, too rich. Before Madison was a part of our family, Todd and I asked a friend who had adopted brothers and sisters how their family helped everyone feel equally loved. She said we didn't understand -- they were all the same, adopted or not. It isn't until you embrace this gift, this miracle, that you truly know for yourself. Just as you so beautifully shared, Addison is your own -- she is one of your family -- a gift that God deeply blessed you with!!

Hooray for the fun shopping day and new shoes! Did you get squeaker shoes?

Love from all of us,
Todd, Julie, Samuel, Noah, Emma and Madison

So thankful for the better health. Praying for a good trip home and that the long flight won't be too hard on Addison. That is such a long time to be on a plane -- here's hoping for lots of long naps!

Dear Carlson Family:
I can't wait to check your updates each day. What a time for growth and maturity for Alyssa. She has been on my mind and in my prayers during this time as you all have. Addison looks like she knows instinctively what a loving and kind family she has found herself amongst. Lucky, lucky girl.

It has been so amazing to following your journey across the globe!
Thanks for sharing with all of us. I'm so glad Riley & Addison are feeling a little better. Just wanted you to know we're praying for your health and safety as you travel home. I was hoping to make the trip to Chicago on Weds, but don't think I can now. I wish I could be there.
love you all, Heather
